Doctors’ strike

LARKANA, Aug 1: The general body of the Pakistan Medical Association and the Chandka Teachers Association (CTA) on Thursday announced to shut down out patient departments, private laboratories and clinics, and stop teaching in the Chandka Medical College (CMC) on Aug 5 if police failed to arrest the culprits involved in attacking Prof Zaffar Pirzado, vice-principal of the CMC.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Surgeon Sikandar Ali Shaikh, CTA president Dr Malik Jalbani, PMA general-secretary Dr Waheed Memon and others expressed concern over the apathy of the police regarding the recovery of the kidnapped professor.

They apprised the doctors to continue the token protest from 10am to 12 noon daily. They said despite knowing the culprits, the police had failed to arrest them.

They threatened to enlarge the scope of their protest it the professor was not recovered.
