CHARSADDA, July 31: Teachers held a public meeting at Government High School No 1 here on Wednesday to protest against the right-sizing policy under which 378 teachers had been sent to the surplus pool.

Waris Khan Khalil, provincial president of Malgari Usataza; Khairullah Khairkhwa, provincial leader of the All Teachers Association; district ATA president Mohammad Hussain Azad and others spoke.

They demanded that all surplus teachers be adjusted immediately and nursery grade included in the enrolment policy of the education department. They pointed out that nursery class required a separate teacher.

The teachers’ leaders rejected the privatization policy of the Punjab education department and announced their full cooperation with the struggling teachers of that province. They rejected contract appointments in the education department and wondered why only the education department had been singled out for such appointments.
