HYDERABAD, July 31: The Principals Coordination Committee, Hyderabad region, at a meeting held here on Wednesday, condemned the privatization of educational institutions and the police violence against teachers in Lahore, and resolved to observe a protest day throughout Sindh on Aug 1.
The meeting, which was attended by the principals of various colleges of the defunct Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions and leaders of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association, also condemned the inordinate increase in fees announced by the Sindh University and educational boards.
It demanded that Rs500 per annum should be charged from students in government computer laboratories and Rs30 per month should be charged where private laboratories had been established.
The meeting also demanded the appointment of senior college teachers as executive district officers (education), appointment of permanent principals against vacant posts, issuance of the notification regarding promotion and move-over cases and non-interference, by politicians, in the affairs of educational institutions.
It also condemned the attack on the vice-principal of the Chandka Medical College.
