KARACHI: Newspapermen’s protest to go on


KARACHI, July 31: More than 100 children of journalists and workers of newspaper employees staged a token hunger strike in front of the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday for the implementation of the 7th Wage Award.

Earlier, on the completion of a 24-hour hunger strike, 18 journalists and newspaper workers were given juice to break their strike. During the 10-day campaign, more than 70 persons took part in the hunger strike.

Speaking at the hunger strikers’ camp, leaders of the All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation, the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and the Karachi Union of Journalists announced that a fast-unto-death would be observed during the second phase of their campaign in front of newspapers offices. — PPI
