KARACHI: Water tanker kills motorcyclist

KARACHI, July 30: A motorcyclist died and another got injured in a traffic accident in the Korangi Industrial Area on Tuesday.

The police said the motorcyclists, identified as Nazeer Ahmed, aged 35, and Shakir, aged 30, were knocked down by a speeding water tanker (LX-1413) near English Biscuit Factory, Korangi Industrial Area. The two victim’s were riding on their motorcycle (KCS-7750) when they were hit by the recklessly driven water tanker, the eyewitnesses said.

Both the injured were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where Nazeer was pronounced dead on arrival while Shakir was admitted for treatment.

Following the accident a sizable crowd gathered at the spot and the traffic was diverted to the alternate routes, the police said. They claimed to have arrested the errant driver identified as Tariq Iqbal and impounded the vehicle.

A judicial magistrate died in a road accident in Clifton on early Tuesday morning. The Police said that Mansoor Husain Buriro, judicial magistrate district west, was driving his car (GS-3131) when he hit against the pavement at Schon Circle around 4 am. The police said that the victim, who had sustained serious injures, died on way to the hospital.

DROWNING: An unidentified man drowned in the sea near Sandspit on Tuesday. According to the reports, the man was swept away by the strong currents.
