LARKANA, July 28: In the party election of the PPP, Larkana district, held at Nisar Khuhro’s house here on Sunday, almost all former office-bearers were re-elected.

Nawab Shabir Ahmad Chandio was elected the president, Ayaz Soomro senior vice-president, Aziz Abro junior vice-president, Mohammad Anwar Bhutto general secretary, Riazuddain Abro deputy general secretary, Asghar Shaikh information secretary, Nisar Shaikh treasurer and Qazi Shamsuddain was elected the public relation secretary.

Speaking on the occasion, Nisar Khuhro, the Sindh PPP president, said the party activists had foiled the attempt of Gen Parvez Musharaf to divide the PPP by promulgating the ordinance for holding party elections.

Adds our Nawabshah correspondent: A protest demonstration was held by a group of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) who boycotted the district elections of the PPP at Nawabshah on Sunday.

They were led by Inayat Ali Rind, ex-president, PPP, Nawabshah, and a candidate for the seat of senior vice president, PPP, Nawabshah.

The rally started from the Rind House and ended peacefully at the Nawabshah Press Club.

The protesters, who were in tractor trolleys and cars, were chanting slogans for boycotting the elections.

Later, talking to newsmen at a press conference, Inayat Ali Rind, announced boycotting the party elections and alleged that a conspiracy had been hatched by Ghulam Qadir Chandio and fake voters lists had been prepared in which the names of senior workers had been excluded.

He said that he and other workers would not accept the results of the elections.

On being contacted, Ghulam Qadir Chandio categorically denied the allegations saying that free and fair elections had been conducted.

Our Shikarpur correspondent adds: As per schedule the elections for the members of the PPP Sindh Council and its district office bearers were held at the Mirani House under the supervision of Ghulamullah Mahota, the election officer, on Sunday.

Agha Taimoor Khan Pathan, Qalandar Bux, Mohammed Ashraf Khan Durrani, Naseer Ahmed Lodhi, Shamsuddin Khan, Barkat Ali Bhutto, Qalandar Bux Mirani, Mohammed Azeem Sanjrani, and Mukhtiar Ahmed Ruk were elected unopposed for the posts of president, senior vice president, junior vice president, general secretary, deputy general secretary, information secretary, treasurer, public relations officer, and record secretary respectively. While Agha Fateh Mohammed Khan and Agha Rafiuddin Khan Durrani were elected unopposed as members of the PPP Sindh Council.

Our Khairpur correspondent reports: Former MPA Sajid Ali Banbhan was elected unopposed president, PPP, Khairpur district here on Sunday.

Other elected office-bearers included Naeem Ahmed Kharal, senior vice president, Sajan Wassan, vice president, Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah, general secretary, Shabbir Chandio, deputy general secretary, Abdul Aziz Gaho, record secretary, Abdul Majeed Tumrani, treasurer and Manzoor Brohi, office secretary.

Adds our Naushahro Feroze correspondent: Malhar Khan Rajpar and Karim Bux Mallah were elected unopposed as the president and general secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Naushahro Feroze district, respectively. The elections for the district office bearers of the PPP were held on Sunday.
