Solana meets Musharraf


ISLAMABAD, July 27: President Gen Pervez Musharraf and European Union’s Foreign Policy chief Javier Solana on Saturday discussed Pakistan-India situation and underlined the need for military de-escalation and resumption of dialogue.

Mr Solana conveyed to the president the appreciation of the European Union for Pakistan’s role in the international coalition’s war on terrorism.

The EU’s top official underscored the importance of Pakistan-EU relations and the EU’s desire for cementing them further. The president reciprocated these sentiments by saying Islamabad also wished to strengthen these ties.

Afghanistan and the regional situation also came under discussion.—APP
