KARACHI, July 27: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of the High Court of Sindh, who is also the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts at Karachi, accepted on Saturday challan against alleged terrorists of the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Akram Lahori, Ataullah, Azam and Tasadduq, and entrusted the case trial to the ATCs 3 and 4.
Earlier, the accused were produced before the administrative judge amid tight security by the CID. The investigation officers submitted the chargesheet against them.
The first chargesheet was submitted by the Korangi police against Ataullah alias Qasim alias Muavia and Mohammed Azam for killing Syed Athar Husain Rizvi on 4-5-2001.
The AJ transferred the case to the ATC-3 for trial from Aug 3.
The second challan pertained to the Korangi Industrial Area police against accused Ata and Azam. The accused allegedly gunned down Hasan Abidi on 15-11-2001 in front of a CNG station in Baloch Colony. The third chargesheet against accused Akram Lahori, Ata, Tasadduq and Azam was submitted in a firing case of Imambargah Ali Murtaza in Azam Town in the police limits of Mehmoodabad. Six persons were killed and six others injured in the incident on 4-10-2001. The AJ marked this case to the ATC-3 presided over by Judge Arshad Noor Khan.
The fourth chargesheet was submitted by the Rizvia police against five accused, Lahori, Azam, Ata, Tasadduq and Qasim, in the murder case of Mohammed Nazeer, security guard of Mehfil-i-Zainab. The case was sent for trial to the ATC-4.
The fifth chargesheet was submitted by the North Nazimabad police against Akram Lahori and Ata for killing Abul Khair alias Isfahan Haider on 9-4-2002. The trial of the case was entrusted to the ATC-4.
Police however could not submit challan in the murder case of PSO MD Shaukat Mirza.
HARKAT MEN: Justice Shabbir Ahmed, the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts at Karachi, extended on Saturday the date for submission of chargesheet against Mohammed Imran, Mohammed Hanif, the chief and deputy chief of the Harkatul Mujahidin Al Almi, respectively, Inspector Waseem of the Pakistan Rangers and Ashraf till Aug 3.
Earlier, the four accused were produced in the court amid tight security. The investigation officers of the CID sought further remand of the accused on the ground that one of the accused, Ashraf, was arrested only two days back and they needed time to complete the investigations. They also sought extension of time for submission of chargesheet till Aug 3. The judge extended the date for submission of chargesheet till Aug 3.
The cases pertains to the alleged attempt to assassinate President Gen Pervez Musharraf, the bomb blast at the US consulate and other bomb explosions, including one at Marina Club in Defence.
Three co-accused, Shahid, Haris and Sharib, have been shown as absconders in the case pertaining to a bomb blast which took place on 1-1-2002 in the parking lot of Marina Club.
Police also submitted interim challan against another accused, Shaikh Mohammed Ahmed alias Danial, in five different cases. — APP
