LAHORE, July 24: All technical education and vocational training institutes in the Punjab have been instructed not to admit students on seats reserved for sports and co-curricular activities from this academic session.
The reserved seats should be converted into merit seats and admissions be made strictly on open merit accordingly.
This was stated by Muhammad Zahid, the central zonal manager of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), on Wednesday.
He was speaking at a meeting of the principals of polytechnic, commercial and vocational institutes of Lahore, Kasur and Okara districts at the Government Technical Training Institute, Gulberg.
Mr Zahid said the TEVTA has also started restructuring of technical, commerce and vocational training institutes to implement its training policy and achieve the targets.
He said the authority has also decentralized its administrative and financial powers at districts level in accordance with the provisions of Rules 2 (ii) of TEVTA Rules 2001 to avoid delay in disposal of cases.
He also apprised the principals about the simplified procurement procedure of the authority.
The authority has planned to post staff in institutions according to their requirements. He also asked the principals not to admit any student in the second shift until the admissions in the first shift completed to its full capacity.
If an institution did not complete admissions in first shift to its full capacity, the principal should send the list of surplus staff to TEVTA through district manager concerned for their posting in other institutions.
