GUJRANWALA, July 21: The Punjab police has evolved a new transfer policy for its officials from the rank of inspector to head constable, it was learnt.
The police officials, posted in the police stations throughout the Punjab, would be transferred in phases to the Punjab Constabulary (PC) for two years. Later, they will be transferred again to police stations.
Sources told Dawn on Saturday that the decision was taken at a meeting presided over by IGP Malik Asif Hayat in Lahore recently.
In the first phase, sub-inspectors up to 47 years of age, ASIs up to 45 years and head constables up to 40 years would be transferred.
According to the policy, the IG would order transfer of inspectors. Other officials from the rank of SI to head constable would be transferred by the DIGs concerned.
Meanwhile, Gujranwala Range DIG Khwaja Khalid Farooq ordered the transfer of 138 policemen to the Punjab Constabulary. They include 19 sub-inspectors, 49 ASIs and 70 head constables.
