KARACHI: Ord on Madaris rejected

KARACHI, July 21: The chief of the Wafaqul Madaris-ul-Arabia Pakistan, Maulana Salimullah Khan, announced on Sunday the rejection of the recently- introduced Madaris Registration and Regulation Ordinance, and warned the government of serious consequences if it forced the Ordinance’s implementation.

He alleged that the government, by making the Madaris subordinate to it, wanted to eliminate Madaris which was unacceptable.

He said they would never allow anyone to interfere with religious affairs, adding: “We are ready to render every sacrifice for the cause of Islam.”

He described the Ordinance as an attempt to end Madaris’s autonomy, and urged the government to avoid such steps. — PPI
