25 killed in S. Arabian accident

RIYADH, July 21: Twenty-four Saudis and a Syrian were killed and 24 passengers seriously injured when a bus collided head-on with a trailer truck and then burst into flames, Saudi newspapers reported on Sunday.

The accident occurred late on Friday along the highway linking cities of Madina and Qassim, some 700 km west of Riyadh.

The newspapers said the crash between the trailer and bus, which had 49 Saudi passengers on board, set the bus on fire. The truck driver, a Syrian, was killed in the collision along with 24 Saudis. —Reuters
