HYDERABAD, July 20: The Sindh government here on Friday declared the following areas calamity-affected due to the shortage of irrigation water.

The calamity-affected areas are: Tharparkar (entire district); Dadu (entire district); Ghora Bari, Kharo Chhan and Mirpur Bathoro of Thatta district; Umerkot, Pithoro, Kunri, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Digri, and Samaro talukas of Mirpurkhas district; Badin, Tando Bago, Shaheed Fazal Rahu, and Talhar talukas of Badin district; Mirpur Mathelo, Sanghar, Sinjhoro, Jam Nawaz Ali, and Shahdadpur talukas of Sanghar district; Shahdadkot, Warah, and Qambar Ali talukas of Larkana district; Rohri, Saleh Pat, and Pano Aqil talukas of Sukkur district; Nara, Faiz Ganj, and Mirwah talukas of Khairpur district; Shikarpur and Garhi Yasin talukas of Shikarpur district; Modian, Jhangkand, Kand, Khar, Shorkand, Wankad, Luaar, Bhad, Kermatiani, Shoring, Bolhari, Shahi Chib, Kathore, Chuhar, Khaoji, Konkar, Kharkharo, Toro, Thado and Khakhar dehs of the defunct Malir taluka; and Bhirya taluka of Naushahro Feroze district.

INAUGURATION: District Nazim, Hyderabad, Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, inaugurated the office of a satellite telephone company, Thuraya, Pakistan, here on Thursday.
