CHARSADDA, July 19: District Nazim Nasir Mohammad Khan on Thursday presented a surplus budget without any new tax in the district council for the financial year 200-03 with an outlay of Rs297.97 million.

The Nazim said Rs99.589 million had been earmarked for completion of development schemes under Khushal Pakistan and other programmes.

He said that for new development schemes, besides the amount provided by the provincial government and a special aid of Rs39.330 million, Rs43.593 million would be spent from the local fund.

He said the provincial government had also earmarked Rs123.086 million for the district in its annual developmental programme (ADP).

Remodelling of Doaba canal system, construction of bridge at Hameed Mia Dheri, women’s vocational institute and construction of degree college at Shabqadar were included in the ADP, he said.

Convener Alamzeb Umerzai adjourned the discussion on the budget till July 22 due to lack of quorum.
