Fertilizer production

LAHORE, July 19: Pakistan government is in contact with Morocco and Ukraine for the initiation of joint ventures in the field of fertilizer production.

“We are trying to explore every avenue for boosting fertilizer production in the country to meet domestic needs,” said Muhammad Mohsin, chairman, National Fertilizer Corporation (NFC), while addressing a meeting of general managers here.

He said that the NFC was also seriously thinking of importing fertilizer from different countries in line with the level of NPK offtake in Pakistan.

Mr Mohsin said that the golden handshake scheme for the NFC employees would be announced next week.

Earlier, managing director, National Fertilizer Marketing Ltd, Chaudhary Shaukat Hayat, said that the company marketed 1.7m tons of chemical fertilizers during the last fiscal year.—APP
