SAHIWAL, July 18: A local court on Thursday extended the pre-arrest bail of six accused involved in the murder of the union council Nazim in the DHQ Hospital’s medical ward on July 7.

The judge asked the Farid Town police to produce the record of the case on July 27.

Accused, including Ilyas, Shahbaz, Masood Ahmed, Irshad Ali and Bashir Ahmed, had shot dead UC 55 Nazim Ghulam Murtaza Bhullar over an election enmity. Reacting instantly, the Bhullar group had also killed the leader of their rival group, Irshad Ahmed Kamboh. Police had registered cases against 18 people of both the groups.

LOOTED: Three armed robbers on Wednesday night deprived passengers of a bus of valuables worth Rs150,000 on the Kassowal overhead bridge.

The New Khan bus (LOT-9055) was going from Lahore to Multan when robbers in the guise of passengers overpowered gunman Manzoor. They snatched from him 7mm rifle and directed the driver to stop the bus. Later, they collected valuables from the passengers and disappeared in the adjoining jungle. Passengers disclosed that robbers boarded the bus at Chichawatni at the alleged beck and call of some person known to the bus staff.

Kassowal police have registered a case.

CASE REGISTERED: Noorshah police on Thursday registered a murder case against six office bearers of the PML (Q).

A relative of Malik Liaquat Ali Saghla had been killed allegedly by labourer Yousaf sometime ago in Chaukhandi village. To take revenge, Nawaz Shah, Liaquat Saghla, Yaseen Shah, Malik Ilyas Saghla, Taqi and former zila council member Tahir Shah killed Yousaf here on Wednesday night and escaped.
