KARACHI: PPP (SB) to contest elections

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 17: The provincial cabinet of Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto) has decided to contest the October elections in Sindh.

The cabinet meeting, which met here under the chairmanship of Menahan Khan Rind, on Wednesday decided to put up candidates in all the national and provincial seats.

The meeting also chalked out a mass mobilization programme in the province by holding meetings and rallies.

The meeting, however, opposed the government’s graduation condition for taking part in the forthcoming election, saying that “it is undemocratic”.

The meeting expressed concern over the deteriorat-ing law and order situation in the Sindh and urged the government to take early steps to curb it.

In a yet another resolution, the meeting observed that provinces must be given autonomy and effective steps be taken for alleviation of poverty; and prices of electricity, gas and other essential commodities be brought down.

The meeting also decided that the party will hold rallies and meetings in all districts of the province to celebrate the 17th anniversary of Shaheed Shahnawaz Bhutto on Thursday.
