Robbers kill oil dealer

LAHORE, July 16: Two robbers shot dead an oil dealer on Bund Road in Khokhar Town on Tuesday.

They stormed into the oil agency of Khwaja Iqbal Butt, 55, and collected Rs25,000 from the cash box. They opened fire on Iqbal when he put up resistance. Passersby took him to a nearby hospital where he died.

The miscreants fled from the scene on foot.

Iqbal is survived by a wife and a son. His body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

MURDER: A vendor was punched to death over the issue of a candy in Makhanpura.

Haji Ikram, 55, had set up a stall outside his house and sold candies and other sweets. One Khurram Shah of the same street passed by his stall and picked up a candy without payment.

Ikram asked him to pay but he refused. It led to an exchange of harsh words. Khurram allegedly punched him in his chest who died instantly.

The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.
