PESHAWAR, July 16: The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday directed the district Mardan police to produce on July 18 a teenage girl who is a victim of domestic violence and have been kept in illegal custody by her husband and brother-in-law.
A division bench comprising Justice Nasirul Mulk and Justice Abdur Rauf Lughmani directed the police to ensure safety of the girl.
A habeas corpus petition was filed by Ms Noorjehan, stating that her daughter was a victim of torture and domestic violence. She has stated that her daughter, Henna, who is 12, was married to Ibraheem, brother of a spiritual leader of the area, Pir Sufaid.
Advocate Ali Jamil Qazi appeared for the petitioner and stated that the girl was married about a year ago. He stated that the respondents had not been allowing the petitioner to meet her daughter.
