KARACHI: Magistrate recommends DSP’s dismissal

KARACHI, July 16: The District and Session Judge West, Qasier Iqbal, on Tuesday directed the Capital City Police Chief to dismiss DSP Khurram of the Anti-Terrorist Wing (ATW).

The recommendation came after an inquiry was held by the DJ West on the orders of the Sindh High Court. The DSP was charged with keeping a person in illegal detention.

Mohammed Raheem filed a petition before SHC, challenging the illegal detention of his brother Laeeq-uz-Zaman.

The petitioner stated that his brother was detained by the police, who were alleging that he was involved in different acts of terrorism.

The SHC bench ordered the judicial magistrate West to conduct a raid at the TPX Police Station. JM West Iqbal Awan raided the PS in compliance with the orders by the court during which the detenue was found.

The TPX police expressed ignorance about any complaint or FIR at the PS against Laeeq after which the JM released the detenue.

The report about recovery was then presented before the SHC bench which ordered an inquiry into the matter.

RAPE CASE: Judicial Magistrate, South, Syeda Parveen Shah on Tuesday called a report from SHO Clifton about an alleged rape case.

The court was seized with a private complaint filed by Major Zargham Mirza against Jamil Yosuf, Chief of CPLC, SP A.D. Khawaja, police officers Zaim Iqbal, Lubna Tiwana, Abdul Hakim Bangash, Saba and other 15 respondents, including media people.

According to A private complaint filed by Major Zargham, through his counsel Syed Waqar Shah, advocate, respondents tried to implicate him in a case and attempted to defame him. The complainant said that he had faced a court of inquiry which exonerated him of charge under section 14 of Zina (Enforcement of Hudood Ordinance).

The counsel for complainant submitted before the court that respondents acted beyond their powers and jurisdiction and implicated him.

He submitted that the CPLC was not competent to deal with cases where immunity is available to a person under section 549 CrPC.

The JM, after perusing the complaint and an application by the complainant, called for a complete record of the matter.—APP
