KARACHI: Merit seats in medical colleges not reduced

KARACHI, July 16: There has been no decision as yet to reduce the merit seats at the two public sector medical colleges in the city, chairman of the admission committee for Dow and Sindh medical colleges, Prof Illahi Bakhsh Soomro, said on Tuesday.

He said there was neither any policy nor any notification as yet regarding reduction in the merit or other seats at the two medical colleges.

Prof Soomro pointed out that the admission policy for the medical colleges has not yet been announced.

However, he said: “there is pressure on us from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) that the number of admissions at the public sector medical colleges should not be more than 250.”

At present, this number at the DMC is more than 350 and almost the same is the case at the SMC, he added.—APP
