Abedies clinch title


KARACHI, July 15: Abedies comprising Nuri Pasha, Anwer Kizilbash, Iqbal Abedi and Jawad Abedi made their presence felt annexed the weekend Duplicate Bridge the title with a score of 103 Victory Points, says a KBA press release issued Monday.

Abedies struck form in the very first match against beating PSO 25-5. However, Abedies faced tough resistance from Solox in the third round, anyhow winning the match 17-13, played level with Candyland and in the last game they outpointed Attackers 25- 4 to win the title of the day.

Candyland with the two regular pairs of Hamid-Ziaullah, Hasan Askari- Khalid Mohiuddin and Captain Muhammad Ismail was given a tough time in the opener by Arzoo 19-11, then they lost narrowly to Sprinters 14-16 and again drew level in the fourth round with Abedies, winning another two 25-5 from Mazhar and 22-8 from Solox.

They scored 95 for the second berth. Arzoo with Qamar Puri, Mubashir Puri, Naseem Arzoo and Shahab scored 94 V.P . for the third spot, winning four matches from Green 25-5, Sprinter 18-12, Solox 15-15 and Akber 25-5 losing first round to Candyland 11-19 V.P. In the pair’s movement earlier, forty pairs were placed equally in two houses.

In the Seniors Group, S.M. Ozair - Raees Ahmed reached at the top with a handsome score of 68 percent, followed by the Ghulam Mohammed -Jamal Nizami 59. 71 and Dr. Sarfraz - Rashid Shamsi 54.32 percent.

In the other house, Shahab Saeed - Qamar Puri topped with a score of 70.10 followed by Naseem Arzoo - Mubashir Puri 61.58 and Taqi Reza-Saeed Hasan 58 perccnet.—PPI
