PESHAWAR, July 11: The Society for Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) has expressed concern over corporal punishment cases in schools and asked the NWFP government to impose legal ban on this inhuman practice in the province.
A press release issued here on Thursday said a teacher in the Government Primary School, Dargai in district Charsadda, barbarously beat his student Hazrat Ali. As a result, the victim sustained serious injuries.
The press release said the minor was forced to have his leg amputated and the family of the disabled Hazrat Ali continues to be in the state of trauma.
The SPARC pointed out that Pakistan was obligated to implement the provisions of the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child in letter and spirit.
