KARACHI: Bandits injure SSGC official

KARACHI, July 10: A senior official of the Sui Southern Gas Company was shot and wounded in his Gulistan-i-Johar home early on Wednesday morning.

Police said four robbers entered the house of Mansoor Ahmed Suri in Block-12, Gulistan-i-Johar and collected cash. Mansoor Ahmed, Deputy Manager in SSGC, woke up and caught hold of one of the bandits.

The accomplices of the bandits who became jittery fired at Mansoor and fled with the looted cash.

Mansoor’s family called the police and shifted the wounded to JPMC. He was subsequently shifted to a private hospital where his condition is stated to be serious.

ACCIDENT: A pedestrian was crushed to death by a truck in Risala police limits.

Police said Abdul Ghani, 55, was crossing the road when a speeding truck (JT-2586) knocked him down. Ghani suffered serious injures and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police impounded the truck and arrested its driver Naseem Khan.
