KARACHI, July 8: Two women and a man committed suicide in the city on Monday.

A 14-year-old girl consumed a pesticide in her Mehmoodabad house. The police said that Saima was suffering from a skin disease and on the advice of her father she got her head shaved. Friends and relations passed adverse remarks about her shaven head. She could not bear such remarks. On Monday she consumed a heavy dose of a pesticide and died.

The police sent the body to a hospital for autopsy. After post-mortem it was handed over to the family for burial.

A mother of four hanged herself in her Korangi house. The woman committed suicide after her husband left for work.

The police said that Rukhsana, aged 35, a mother four, was mentally sick. She often went out of her house and wandered about in the streets. On Monday morning too she went out and her husband, Boota, brought her back. After her husband left for work, she hanged herself. The cries of her children drew the attention of neighbours who informed the police.

The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy where it was established that the woman committed suicide.

An 18-year-old boy hanged himself in his Orangi Town house after he was admonished by his father.

The police said that Naeem Kareem returned home late on Sunday night on which his father, Mohammed Kareem, admonished him for being out late into the night. He asked him to return early. Naeem felt hurt and hanged himself in a room of his house. The family saw him hanging in the morning and informed the police, who sent the body to a hospital for autopsy.

CARJACKING: Twenty-four vehicles — eight cars and 16 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, police sources said.

Three cars were hijacked and five others were stolen in various parts of the city, including Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar, and Ferozabad.

Nine motorcycles were hijacked in North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Saddar, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulberg and other localities. Seven others were stolen.

The police also claimed on Monday to have recovered four stolen cars and five motorcycles in the city.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead in Manghopir on Monday night.

The police said that Allah Dad, aged 46, was sprayed with bullets by unidentified assailants in Afridi Goth, Manghopir. The police sent the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. The motive for the killing could not be ascertained immediately.
