Red face for umpire Orchard

MANCHESTER, England, July 7: Umpire David Orchard endured an ignominious day’s work after he turned up late for the England-Sri Lanka triangular series one-day international at Old Trafford Sunday.

South African Orchard, 54, mistakenly thought the match was a day-night affair starting in the afternoon and only rushed to the ground after an SOS call in the morning.

He arrived after four overs of Sri Lanka’s innings to take over from third umpire Jeremy Lloyds.—Reuters
