JI chief criticizes presidential order
NOWSHERA, July 7: The chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, has criticized the promulgation of presidential order, banning candidates to hold prime minister and chief minister offices for more than two terms.
Addressing a public meeting at Zirat Kaka Sahib near Nowshera on Sunday the JI chief termed the promulgation of the Qualification to Hold Public Offices Order, 2002 an unconstitutional, saying that the order had been promulgated to keep some particular persons out from practical politics.
He alleged that the president issued the fresh order to save his future, adding that its
implications would be very serious.
The JI chief said that Musharraf was an non-elected president and had no legal and constitutional authority to amend the constitution or promulgate an ordinance.
Qazi said that all political parties should unite to foil the unconstitutional acts of President Pervez Musharraf and urged the country’s political forces to take part in the next general elections. He said that the government was creating uncertainty to postpone the coming elections.
He said that the political parties had rejected the recently announced constitutional package. He said that the creation of national security council would directly involve armed forces in politics.
