Chinese team arrives in Thar
HYDERABAD, July 7: A 21-member Chinese team of experts from the Shenhua Group Corporation arrived in Mithi town on Saturday for carrying out an initial survey regarding Thar coal reserves.
The Chinese team, led by Mao Hanmin, was accompanied by the Sindh secretary for industries and mineral development, Aslam Sanjrani.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Aslam said that the arrival of Chinese experts for the Thar Coal Project would be followed by the main team, comprising 150 people, which would arrive on July 25.
He said that the equipment and machinery required for the survey would be soon sent from China, and added that drilling work would be carried out at the Thario Halipota village which would be completed within six months.—APP
HESCO OFFICE: The people of Thar have urged the chief executive, Hesco, to relocate the SDO, Hesco office, in Mithi, which had been shifted to Naokot, reports our correspondent.
Talking to this correspondent on Sunday, a number of people from Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Diplo, Mithi, Kaloi, and other villages expressed serious concern at the shifting of the SDO office from Mithi to Naokot as they had to go all the way to Naokot for getting their power bills corrected, for the issuance of demand notices, etc.
The Nazim, union council Nagarparkar, pointed out that a resident of Nagarparkar had to waste two days for going to the SDO, Hesco office, Naokot. He also said that he had to spend a good amount of money on the bus fare and other expenses while staying at Naokot.
The consumers of Thar have appealed to the chief executive, Hesco, to relocate the SDO Wapda office to Mithi.
