Rally urges fair distribution of Zakat

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 7: A large number of people, including women, from Talib Solangi village of this district staged a demonstration here on Sunday against the chairmen of local Zakat Committees.

The women complained that they were not receiving their share in Zakat funds for many years in spite of their entitlement.

The protesters accused the Zakat officials of enlisting ineligible people under Guzara Scheme as Zakat-deserving.

The protesters demanded verification of the lists.

ELECTROCUTED: A young woman, Ms Mumtaz, wife of Misri Chargro, was electrocuted while pressing her clothes at her home in Mithiani late on Saturday.

DROWNS: A 10-year-old boy, Sadam, drowned on Saturday in Sehra Minor after he slipped from its bank.

Farmer shot dead: A grower, Mumtaz Ali Memon 25, was shot dead allegedly by his cousin over water dispute in village Shadi Khan Memon, near Bhirya town, the other day.
