KARACHI, July 5: Three ships carrying containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Owing to delay in arrival of several foreign flag ships, the berthing activity at the wharves was slow as only two ships, Khalid-Ibn Al-Waleed, to unload and load containers and Johar to offload crude oil, were berthed after the sailing of as many.

The ships, which departed were led by L.T. Loading and Khalid-Ibn Al-Waleed, while Al-Maqwa, Kota Teraju, Lanka Mahapola, Johar and Nememcha are expected to sail out on Saturday.

Berth occupancy at the dry wharves fell to 33 per cent because of slow arrivals, but was maintained on the higher side at the oil piers at 67 per cent tanks to steady arrivals of tankers.

A total of 92,975 tons comprising 8,886 tons of export cargo including 1,137 tons of rice and 84,089 tons of import tonnage including 61,000 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Hyundai Stride, Starlight River, Iwato, all with containers.
