HYDERABAD, July 2: The Chief Executive of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco), Brig Tariq Arshad, has expressed the hope that the company will be able to nab power-thieves with the cooperation of business community.

Talking to a delegation of the business community, led by Saleem Hussain Vohra, the General Secretary of Anjuman Tajiran-i-Sindh, here on Tuesday, Brig Arshad said that Hesco would remove all extra-meters as it permitted only one meter for one shop.

He told the delegation that the company suffered more than 70 per cent line loss and pointed out that in one Hesco circle alone, the number of defaulters was no less than 185,000.

Calling on all the consumers to pay their electricity bills, he held out the assurance that all the genuine problems of consumers would be resolved.

He dispelled the general impression that the crystal meters were faster than the accurate ones and claimed that the crystal meters were being used throughout the country.

He offered to get changed any meter running fast due to some fault. About instalments of bills, he advised the consumer to approach the concerned Xen or an SE.

Brig Tariq also told the traders that transformers were available in a sufficient number and that it was the duty of Hesco to replace the defective transformers without any financial burden on the consumers.

The delegation underlined consumers’ complaints about issuance of detection bills, inflated bills, repair of electric poles, facility in payment of bills in instalments and distribution of power load on the basis of commercial and domestic consumers.
