By Our Correspondent

NOWSHERA, July 1: A one-day workshop on child rights, organized by the Hilal-i-Pakistan, was held at the Khushal Khan Memorial Hall in Akora Khattak on Monday.

Director-general of Nadra, NWFP, Mohammad Anwar, was the chief guest, and Nowshera district Naib Nazim Pervez Ahmad Khan, presided over the workshop.

A large number of local bodies’ representatives, including women councillors and union council secretaries, participated in the function.

Mohammad Anwar, on the occasion, stressed that birth registration was essential for an equitable allocation of resources to different areas and progress of the country. It was time that people take the issue of registration of their children at birth seriously, he added.

He said that female health workers and women councillors could play a vital role in creating awareness among people about birth registration.
