Golf pushes Beetle off top place
WOLFSBURG (Germany) June 26: The Golf has hit the top of the Volkswagen car production table. More Golfs have now been made than any other VW.
The honour had belonged to the Beetle, the former cult car, which is now being produced in Mexico.
But on Tuesday, June 25, Golf number 21,517,415 rolled off the assembly line in the factory at Wolfsburg and pushed the Beetle off the top.
In the world ratings, the Golf is in second place behind the Toyota Corolla. Toyota says 30 million Corollas have been built.—dpa
