Unsal may miss semifinal

SAITAMA (Japan), June 24: Turkish defender Hakan Unsal is virtually certain to miss Wednesday’s semifinal against Brazil with a knee injury, team officials said Monday.

The defender, who was controversially sent off in the first match with the Brazilians, also missed the quarterfinal win over Senegal as a result of the injury.

Turkey will otherwise be at full strength although captain Hakan Sukur is still suffering from a thigh strain he has been carrying during the tournament.—AFP
