Caretaker Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen elected

By Our Correspondent

NOWSHERA, June 24: Caretaker Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen were elected to take charge of the five town councils of the Nowshera district.

All the 10 candidates were elected unopposed.

They will run the affairs of their respective towns until elections to these posts are held. A schedule for the polls is yet to be announced.

In the eight districts of the NWFP, there was only one tehsil due to which elections for tehsil or town councils could not be held last year during the local government elections.

Recently, the government divided the districts, including Nowshera, into different towns and announced that until the holding of elections, caretaker Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen would be elected by the members of these towns.

According to the notifications, issued after the elections, the Nazim and Naib Nazim of Town 1 (Nowshera city) are Muhammad Ilyas Khan and Hayatullah, respectively. The Nazim of Town II (Pabbi) is Babu Ameer Muhammad, while the Naib Nazim is Mahbub Ali. Of Town III (Amangarh), the nazim is Amjid Azam and the Naib Nazim is Noorul Qamar. The Nazim and Naib nazim of Town IV (Akora KhattaK) are Dr Dad Muhammad and Mumtaz Khan, respectively, while that of Town V (Jehangira) are Mumliqat Khan and Ameen Akber, respectively.
