KARACHI: Minister for stronger intelligence network


KARACHI, June 23: Federal interior minister Moinuddin Haider on Sunday urged further strengthening of the intelligence network in Karachi and other cities.

He was on a visit to the Central Police Office (CPO) where he was briefed on the law and order situation.

The federal minister informed the IGP Sindh that funds for the CID (Central Investigation Department) would be soon released by the federal government.

Earlier, he was received warmly on his arrival and a guard of honour was presented to him, followed by the briefing by high ranking police officials including top CID men.

The minister was informedof the developments and clues regarding the bomb attack on US Consulate building.

FBI: Interior minister Moinuddin Haider, talking to journalists yesterday after the inaugural session of the National Narcotics Conference, said the FBI’s presence in Pakistan was of temporary duration, aimed at investigating the recent explosion near the US Consulate in Karachi. —APP/PPI
