LAHORE, June 22: A competitive card of six events has been laid out for the Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse Sunday.
All events will be contested over the sprinting distance of 900 metres. In all, 60 probable runners are taking part in these events, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.
In the Bhera Plate, a class IV & V combined handicap race featuring the card, three contestants seem to be on chance. They are: Admiral’s Way, Perfect Timing and Great Grandy. All three are well-placed in the handicap and the racing fans should see a keen contest between them. This will be the sixth and last race in racing order.
In the other events three or more acceptors are on equal chance to win. That makes the card competitive in which winner picking may prove a difficult task for the punters.
The second race has only five acceptors left-in after the scratching on Saturday. Under the Lahore Race Club (LRC) rules the event is likely to be declared void due to paucity of runners. However, the rules provide that if the LRC stewards feel there will be a good contest among the acceptors, they can allow the event to be run.
The first race will start at 2.30 pm.
