No office of religious institutions raided: AIG

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, June 22: The assistant inspector-general of police, CID (NWFP), has described as baseless the news item published in a section of the press, alleging that the CID/NWFP with the FBI had raided offices of certain religious institutions being run by two Middle East-based relief organizations at Peshawar on Friday.

In a statement, issued here on Saturday, the AIG said no raid had been conducted on the organizations.

However, our correspondent stands by the contents of the news item.

The management of a Kuwait-based organization has confirmed that the police raided their offices at around 9am on Friday.

The AIG could not be contacted despite several attempts to clarify the position regarding the joint raids conducted by the CID police and FBI agents.
