Help pledged to drought victims

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, June 20: Governor Balochistan Amirul Mulk Mengal has said the government was taking all possible steps for resolving the problems of drought victims in the province.

He was talking to a team of the PML-Q which called on him on Thursday.

The governor said the drought had badly hit Balochistan as most of the areas of the province did not receive rains yet and water level was also depleting day by day. This condition adversely affected the livestock and agriculture, he added.

The government, he said, launched short, medium and long terms projects in the drought-hit areas for improving the conditions. The federal government had provided huge funds for the rehabilitation of the drought victims while the provincial government announced special uplift packages for them, he added.
