July-May receipts fall short by 14.43pc

ISLAMABAD, June 20: The revenue receipts fell short by 14.43 per cent to Rs343.568 billion during July-May period of the current financial year against the target of Rs358 billion set for the same period.

When compared with the same period of last fiscal year’s collection of Rs342.195 billion, it registered a marginal growth of 0.4 per cent this year.

Official figures released by the Central Board of Revenue showed that the tax authorities collected Rs118.794bn under the head of direct taxes during July-May 2001-02 against the target of Rs123.15bn set for the same period, registering a negative growth of 3.53pc, while in comparison to the last fiscal (2000-01) collection of Rs107.989bn, it registered a growth of 10 per cent.
