BD buys sugar

MUMBAI, June 19: An Indian trading firm has sold 45,000 tons of sugar to private companies in Bangladesh at about $230 a ton c&f (cost & freight), a senior industry official said on Wednesday.

“We are loading the first vessel and hope to complete the shipment process by July,” said S L Jain, member secretary of Indian Sugar Exim Corporation, which bagged the order last month.

He said Bangladesh could import about 200,000 tons of sugar in the current year.—Reuters
