13-man robbers gang busted

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, June 18: A 13-member inter-province gang of robbers have been tracked down here at Dera Ismail Khan by Cantt. police, last night.

The four members of this gang, Amir Khan alias Wali Khan, Bashir Khan alias Muhammad Khan, Zakria and Noor Muhammad alias Kamandar, have been arrested and they have confessed their crimes.

During interrogation, they disclosed that a gang of 26 Afghan refugees was active in the NWFP, Punjab and Balochistan and was involved in a number of killings as well.

During the past few months, a number of robberies were reported in various police stations of the district. The task of tracking down of the culprits was given to SHO Cantt Abdul Ghafoor Khan.

Three members of the gang have confessed the decoities at Gilani Town , Tariq Abad and the murder of Haji Muhammad Amin of Fatima Town.

One Kalashnikov rifle with live rounds, one pistol with rounds, TV and VCR sets, jewellery and clothes were recovered from the gang.

They disclosed that Zhob, Mianwali, Chakwal and D.I.Khan were their favourite hunt. Some of their gang members are behind bars in Chakwal and Balochistan.

SSP Dera, Arif Nawaz has announced cash awards and certificates of performance for the investigation team.
