KARACHI: No change in MBBS admission policy

KARACHI, June 18: The policy of admission to the first-year MBBS classes in medical colleges in the city is expected to remain the same, chairman of the admission committee, Prof Illahi Bux Soomro, said on Tuesday.

He said that soon after the announcement of the Intermediate results the schedule for the receipt of applications would be announced.

Prof Soomro was of the view that no increase in the number of seats at the Dow and Sindh Medical colleges was expected for the next academic session.

He pointed out that last year about 300 admissions were granted to the first-year MBBS classes at the Dow Medical College while the number at Sindh Medical College was about 230.

INTERVIEWS: The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee of the Dow Medical College and the Civil Hospital Karachi announced the schedule for interview for admission to postgraduate classes.

The interviews will be conducted on June 26, 29 and July 3.

The candidates have been asked to bring their original documents along with attested photocopies of mark sheets of professional examinations, any diploma/degree held before, testimonials, besides service records, showing rural health services, evidence of having submitted ACRs of the last three years and domicile certificate.

About 1,200 candidates had appeared in the entrance test on May 27, of whom 300 to 400 have been short-listed for the interviews.

The successful candidates would be referred to different departments where they would be attached with the professors.—APP
