ISLAMABAD, June 18: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on June 13 for lowest income group up to Rs3,000 has registered 0.16 per cent increase over the previous week, showing nominal hike in average prices of kitchen items.

The SPI for the week under review was recorded at 104.69 as against 104.52 recorded in the previous week, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics.

The weekly SPI has been computed with revised base 2000-01=100 covering 17 urban centres and 51 essential items for all income groups and combined.

During the week average prices of seven items registered decrease, while those of 20 items increased with the remaining 24 items’ prices unchanged.

The items which recorded decrease in their prices included tomatoes, onions, red chillies (powdered), moong pulse, masoor pulse, mash pulse and sugar.

The items which registered increase included eggs, potatoes, chicken farm, garlic, bananas, wheat flour, wheat, veg. ghee (loose), gram pulse, rice Irri-6, gur, firewood, rice basmati (broken), kerosene, mustard oil, lawn, mutton, voil, veg. ghee (tin) and cooking oil. The items with no change in their average prices included beef, bread (plain), milk fresh, milk powdered (Nido), curd, salt powdered, tea (packet), tea (prepared).—APP
