Seven held in under-age marriage case
SHIKARPUR, June 16: A groom and six other persons were arrested for arranging marriage of an under-age girl in Mian Jo Goth here on Saturday.
Islam Kandhirio has been accused of arranging his daughter, 10-year-old Sumera’s marriage with Iddan Junejo of village Ghulam Mohammed Brohi for Rs80,000.
Those arrested were Iddan Junejo, Islam Kandhirio, Jhangal Kori, the broker, Khan Muhammad Kandhirio and Jagan Kato, the witnesses, Nathoo Manganhar and Abdul Karim Kato, who performed the Nikah.
The bride was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Shikarpur, for treatment a day after the Nikah.
SUICIDE: Hubdar Shahani, a constable posted at Garhi Yasin, reportedly committed suicide using his official rifle late Friday. He shot himself while on patrolling with his colleagues through the Bypass Road, police claimed.
