Six dacoits get 10-year jail term

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, June 12: The anti-terrorism court in Dera Ismail Khan sentenced on Wednesday six people to 10 years’ imprisonment each in a dacoity case.

The dacoity case was lodged with the University police on June 19, 2001, against Abdul Ghaffar alias Kala, Mohammad Rafique, Mohammad Riaz, Inayatullah, Ishaque and Mohammad Arif, resident of the Ara village.

They were convicted of the crime and sentenced to 10-year jail term. The convicts were fined Rs40,000 each, and in case of default, each would undergo additional term of three years in jail.  

LIFE ATTEMPT: In another case, Mohammad Taimoor, Alamgir and Mohammad Aslam alias Aslami (all residents of Alamsher) were charged with life attempt on Mohammad Ashraf, resident of Basti Dirkhananwali.

Mohammad Ashraf was shot and injured by the accused on March 25, 2001. The prime accused, Muhammad Taimoor, was sentenced to 14 years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs50,000.
