Published June 13, 2002

MIRPUR, June 12: Protest day will be observed in Azad Jammu Kashmir on Thursday against the arrest of former All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Sayed Ali Geelani, and his two sons-in-law by the Indian forces in Srinagar under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

The call for the protest has been given by the AJK government and the APHC to express resentment against the arrest of Geelani and his colleagues under the black law.

Rallies, demonstrations and processions will be staged in all district and Tehsil headquarters of AJK to mark indignation against Geelani’s arrest and throwing him and his relatives in the Ranchi Jail. A procession will be taken out from the district lawn here in the morning.—APP
