DADU, June 11: A complete strike was observed in Sann on Tuesday to protest against an attack on the members of local union council during its session on Monday.
On the call of UC Sann Nazim Syed Abdullah Shah, shops, shopping centres and bazaars remained closed and a large number of citizens and councillors staged a demonstration to protest against the attack.
Speaking to the protesters the Nazim alleged that Mir Shah and his supporters had occupied around 6,000 square feet of land of a commercial plot belonging to the UC. He added that the UC administration had issued notices to them to vacate the plot and remove the encroachments but they had refused.
Shah said that as soon as session of the UC began on Monday, about 20 armed men led by Mir Shah attacked the members, broke the furniture and opened aerial firing. They also beat up some of the councillors including two women, Jannat and Kazbano, he alleged.
He said that the attackers threatened to kill the councillors if they attempted to remove the encroachments.
Meanwhile, SP, Kotri, Sharjeel Kharal, reached Sann and met the Nazim, Naib Nazim Abdul Latif Solangi and members of the Citizens Action Committee. The SP assured them that the accused would be booked.
ACCIDENT: A bicyclist, Muneer Ahmed Qambrani, 17, was killed on the spot and his cousin Riaz Qambrani seriously injured after their bicycle was hit by a Karachi-bound coach near Dur Muhammad Abro village on the Indus Highway on Tuesday.
The injured was admitted to the Dadu Civil Hospital.
HIJACKED: Four unidentified armed robbers blocked Rukkan-Phulji road on Monday night and snatched a car (2036) from its driver Mohammad Urs Chandio.
