KARACHI: Ulema asked to help forge unity

KARACHI, June 10: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has said that Seerat-i-Tayyaba demands us to get united and when we will be united, no power in the world could cause any harm to Pakistan’s geographical and ideological frontiers.

“Brothers: forge unity in your ranks, forget differences and give up minor unnecessary issues as this is the guidance which Seerat-i-Tayyaba provides.”

He was speaking as chief guest at the provincial Seerat-un-Nabi (SAW) conference organized by the Sindh Religious Affairs Department at the FTC Auditorium here on Monday.

The governor said the truth was that people of all ages and eras had obtained guidance from Seerat-i-Tayyaba because the message of Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) was not for any particular era, nation or people of a country, but his message was eternal for the guidance of all people up to the dooms day.

“The more we are attaining the luxuries, the more we are plunging into difficulties. The more we are making scientific inventions, the more we become victims of problems.”

Soomro said that today’s man was faced with numerous difficulties. He is a victim of serious sense of deprivation. He is getting more and more materialistic, only because we have left contentment whereas contentment is an important aspect of Seerat of Holy Prophet (PBUH).

“We can get rid of our problems, if make contentment a habit of our life,” he said.

Governor said Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) forbade coercion in the religion and even asked for showing justice and good attitude towards non-Muslims. But, leave the non-Muslims, we do not hesitate in murdering our own Muslim brothers just for petty religious differences, he added.

The Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) described the murder of a human being as murder of whole humanity and described the ‘Hurmat’ of the life of a Muslim as more than the ‘Hurmat’ of Khana-e-Kaaba.

But, alas, we do claim our love with Holy Prophet (PBUH), still we are not prepared to follow his teachings, the governor said and added that Ulema could rid us from many difficulties by highlighting just one aspect of Seerat-i-Nabi that we should not murder the human beings.

The governor said the attitude of terrorism and killings on the basis of sect and faith had rendered us weak and it had damaged the very identity of Islam in the eyes of the world.

The governor said today’s world forces had emerged as enemies of Islam but even in this situation, Seerat-i-Tayyaba was providing us due guidance.

“If we forget our differences and get united, then what to speak of our neighbour no power on earth can overcome us.”

On the occasion, the governor urged the Ulema to teach the people the lesson of unity, large-heartedness, harmony and tolerance, love and affection and make them each other’s friends.

The Minister for Religious Affairs, Maulana Wali Mohammed Razi, also spoke on the occasion. —APP
