45 returning DPs killed in bus crash

ISLAMABAD, June 8: At least 45 Afghan refugees died and five were injured when a bus taking them home from Pakistan plunged into the Kabul river, the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) reported on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Thursday near Sarobi, on the highway between Kabul and the eastern city of Jalalabad, the AIP said.

The Afghan families were returning from Karachi, it said.

The AIP said a dozen bodies had been recovered from the river.—AFP
